Science on Tap: Exploring Quantum Weirdness with Kids
Presented by: Yogesh Joglekar, Associate Professor, Physics
In science and philosophy, the ability to observe and its effect on the object of interest were treated as two unrelated topics. Quantum theory, a cornerstone of modern electronics, shows us that the two are fundamentally connected. I will introduce this connection - quantum weirdness - and its tangible consequences - electronics, quantum computing, and photosynthesis - in daily life. Although considered highly abstract and mathematical, this topic is a highly fertile research area for high school kids. I will share some of my experiences.
