How to educate
through difficult times

Saturday, February 27, 2010
1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
University Library Auditorium – IUPUI Campus
755 West Michigan Street, Indianapolis

How do we maintain a safe and supportive educational environment when a tragic situation happens in our schools? A panel of professionals from local schools will share their experiences on dealing with tragic situations, including: a death of a student or teacher, suicide, natural disasters, etc. Learn from experienced educators and ask your questions about how to work through these difficult times while supporting students, colleagues and caring for your own emotions. Students, faculty, and Indiana University alumni are encouraged to attend.

Panelists:
  • Kim Walton: Director of Youth Services, Community Health Network, Gallahue Mental Health Center
  • Casey Thompson: 5th grade teacher, Crestview Elementary School in Lawrence Township
  • Lynn Lupold: former principal at North Central High School and current fellow at the Center for Excellence in Leadership and Learning at the University of Indianapolis
  • Maria Collins: Kindergarten Teacher at Winding Ridge Elementary School, MSD Lawrence Township
